Love Letter to Dumarao
To Dumarao, Capiz, Philippines
It is a place that I never expected before. Such warm atmosphere I never felt before in my life so far. I have met difficulties in life, befriended wrong people and choosing the wrong people, but choosing to go to Dumarao was the best decision I had to make.
When I first take step into Dumarao I was a bit hesitant about where I was. Nothing is similar, yet I felt at home. I didn't know if it was a Stockholm Syndrome or that the welcoming vibes I get in Dumarao was surprising for me.
I am an over-thinker, but not in a good way. I often check myself, corrected myself to suit the surrounding better and often felt embarrassed or ashamed whenever I do something that out of the ordinary. However, Dumarao hug me with open heart and telling me that it is okay to be yourself, as long as I am proper and happy.
In Dumarao, I don't have buddies, but family.
Even though deep down, I know that we can't be together forever physically, we can still call each other and have a laugh from the memories we made.
It is also the place where I honed my craft to be an educator. Not only that the students are enthusiastic and curious about all the things in life, but they are also optimistic and full of life. It made me to enjoy teaching not only as an obligations for my job, but also my passion.
